Lately, Smokey has been in a rut. i've been listening to the radio and, more recently, a ton of Hip hop. My best friend moved in with me and he's kind of a n*gga about his music so there are tones of jungle beats and hood snares echoing in the halls of my apartment. Most of it is terrible (i hate bullsh*t ice rap), amoe of it is actually decent, and some of it is amazing. Most of the amazing is from Jay Z's album American Gangster so that goes without saying. now. when i'm at work, i seek other fare. Stumbling about on Imeem.com, i ended up finding Colin Munroe. i liked his remix to Kanye West's Flashing lights so i sat a listened to his album. My God, it's so good. SO. GOOD. The killer is, this cat wrote, arranged and produced the bulk of his record. all of it is concistent and groove worthy, yo just want to close your eyes and let it take you where ever. It's a damn shame this cat has no major label deal. It's a goddamn crime.

While on my musical sabatical, i came aross some works from Common. gandering at the label, the name G.O.O.D Music popped up. i figured further investigation was necessary so i hit the Wiki. to my ssurprise, it was Kanye West's personal label. For those of you that know me, you know it begins and ends with Mr. West in regards to hip hop for me. AS i read up on his own, personal venture, his stable of artists sturck me as amazing. Common and John Legend have alread released platinum, Gramy nominated albums and he has lyrical hitters in Consequernce and Kid Kudi in his wings. there were even whispers of Lupe Fiasco signing after his current contract is over. Too much awesome in one place. WAY too much.
